New Politics Party: House Dissolution Quite Unlikely

The New Politics Party has downplayed speculation about House dissolution, another military coup, and the formation of a government-in-exile by ousted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra.

Suriyasai Katasila, Secretary-General of the New Politics Party, speculated that House dissolution seems unlikely
for now.

However, he said it's going to be a tough road ahead for the Abhisit administration, with corruption scandals still lurking in the background.

Suriyasai added that if the House is to be dissolved, it could be triggered by a shift in allegiance of ruling coalition parties towards the Pheu Thai-led opposition. He also ruled out the possibility of another coup.

The New Politics Party secretary-general called on Prime Minister Abhisit Vejjajiva to foil the attempt to reinstate three senior police officers who were dismissed for their role in the October 7 police crackdown on the People's Alliance for Democracy demonstrators.

Regarding the idea of a government-in-exile, as mentioned by convicted former prime minister Thaksin Shinawatra, Suriyasai said Thaksin cannot set up such a government because he is no longer holding his premiership.

He said doing so would be seen as rebellion against the kingdom, and the Abhisit administration could automatically exert its authority in suppressing the revolt.

Suriyasai then urged the Democrat Party to reorganize and to review the role of the Deputy Prime Minister in charge of security affairs Suthep Thaugsuban as government manager.
