A top Defense Ministry official affirms the military has no objection to criticism on its red-shirt crackdown by the Opposition during the censure debate.
Defense Ministry Permanent Secretary General Apichart Penkiti said the military is ready to be criticized by the Opposition at its no-confidence debate against the government and insisted all officers performed their duties in compliance with the law.
However, he admitted that their operations could have caused some mistakes after the adversaries launched a counteroffensive.
General Apichart affirmed the operations were supervised by officers at the commanding level and that the military needed to exercise restraint.
He said cancellation of the emergency decree enforcement rests with the Center for the Resolution of Emergency Situation and reevaluation of political conditions.
The general then advised the people to exercise judgment over speculations and video clips being shown in the debate.
He also asked the Thai public to forget the past and join hands in developing the country.
General Apichart, in his capacity as director of the ad-hoc committee to aid people affected by the recent unrest, today visited and delivered relief kits to residents of communities in Ratchathevi district.
He has also proposed CRES extend the coverage of remedial assistance for people affected by the unrest.
