De Bua Valley Resort: Rustic Retreat Opts For a Responsible Approach

De Bua Valley Resort
Located in the northeastern province of Nakhon Ratchasima, close to the impressive Khao Yai National Park (a UNESCO World Heritage site), De Bua Valley Resort clearly benefits from an abundance of natural attractions, including lots and lots of fresh air.

Featuring beautifully-landscaped grounds that include lots of tropical plants and flora, De Bua Valley Resort is located in the captivating Wang Nam Khiao neighborhood, an area often described as the 'Switzerland of the Northeast'.

De Bua Valley Resort represents part of a general effort at developing sustainable ecotourism in the kingdom, which is based upon making a concerted effort to minimize the potential for any negative effects (caused by tourism-related activities or developments) on the local environment and communities.

Pastoral Appeal
De Bua Valley Resort has a selection of cottages of various sizes you can choose from, which can accommodate from two to 20 guests, depending on your specific requirements.

We spent two nights in a cottage called Baan Koh Bua (pcitured above), which costs 2,400 baht (US$74) per night. Based on our experience, it would certainly seem that the resort's operator is dedicated to minimizing any potentially negative aspects relating to tourism on the local environment and residents living in communities nearby. In short, the resort represents a wonderful getaway destination that's just a two-hour drive from Bangkok.

All Mod Cons
While De Bua Valley Resort benefits from a rustic setting, guests are still provided with the kind of modern facilities most tourists or travelers have come to expect.

You can enjoy a complimentary American breakfast as part of your stay, while the resort's restaurant features a full à la carte range of dishes, which includes authentic Thai cuisine, along with several seafood-based specialties.

Since I had no strong urge to explore beyond the resort in any great depth, I decided to make use of the resort's spa facility during our stay by enjoying a rejuvenating traditional Thai massage, which took place outdoors.

As my companion and I prepared to enjoy a magnificent candlelit dinner, the almost heavenly, picturesque surroundings provided a stunning al fresco setting as daytime began making way for dusk.

Geared Up For Functions
The resort also provides an interesting option for organizers of conferences, meetings and seminars, as well as anniversary or wedding receptions. The resort's main function room can seat up to 100 guests, or accommodate up to 150 people for a cocktail party and event organizers will be pleased to learn that the resort also has a comprehensive range of world class audio and audio-visual conference equipment.
